How to Reach from Coimbatore City
Maruthamalai is exceptionally well-connected to all major transport hubs in Coimbatore.
By City Bus (TNSTC)
Board buses from Gandhipuram Town Bus Stand (Note: Go to Town Bus Stand, not outstation bus stand).
Key Bus Numbers: 70, 70A, 76, 1D, and S26.
Route: Gandhipuram → Sivananda Colony → Saibaba Colony → GCT → Agri University → Bharathiar University → Maruthamalai Adivaram.
Frequency: Every 5 to 10 minutes.
By Train (Railway Stations)
Coimbatore Junction (CBE): ~14 km away. Connects to all major cities across India.

By Flight & Road
Coimbatore International Airport (CJB): Located ~25 km east at Peelamedu. Taxi travel takes approximately 45–60 minutes via Avinashi Road and Lawley Road.
Self-Drive / Taxi: Follow the smooth Maruthamalai Main Road from RS Puram or Lawley Road junction. Dedicated parking is available at both the foothills and atop the hill.
Ascending the Hill: Steps, Bus & Road
1. Foot Pilgrimage (837 Steps)
The traditional devotional way to seek Murugan's grace. The stone steps are shaded by modern shelters for most of the climb. Average climbing time: 25 to 40 minutes with resting spots.
2. Devasthanam Hill Mini Buses
Frequent temple mini-buses shuttle constantly between Adivaram bus depot and the hilltop temple entrance. Ticket fare is extremely nominal. Travel time: ~10 minutes.
3. Private Cars & 2-Wheelers
Private vehicles can drive up the scenic, curved 1.5 km ghat road. Nominal toll and hilltop parking fees apply. Please drive cautiously and yield to downhill vehicles.
