Temple Visiting & Darshan Hours
The sanctum operates across morning and evening sessions, remaining closed briefly midday for afternoon naivedyam.
Morning Session
6:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Starts with Viswaroopa Darshan and extends until the midday Uchikkalam concludes.
Midday Recess (Nadapadi)
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Temple sanctum doors remain closed for midday resting of the deity and preparation for evening rituals.
Evening Session
2:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Opens with Sayaratchai deeparadhanai and culminates with the serene night Ardha Jama pooja.
On auspicious occasions including Sashti, Monthly Krithigai, Thaipusam, Panguni Uthiram, and English/Tamil New Year, the temple doors open as early as 5:00 AM and darshan continues without midday closure to facilitate the heavy inflow of pilgrims.
The Five Daily Kaala Poojas
Strictly conducted in accordance with ancient Saivite Agamic traditions by traditional Sivachariyar priests.

Mottai & Mudi Kaanikkai (Tonsuring)
Offering of hair at dedicated Devasthanam tonsuring halls at the foothills, signifying shedding ego and surrendering fully to Lord Murugan.
Nei Deepam & Thulabharam
Lighting pure ghee earthen lamps at designated lamp areas. Thulabharam (weighing against sugar, jaggery, coins, or fruits) is conducted inside the mandapam.
